Mary Perisits Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Ann Perisits 94 resident of Yucaipa for 63 years died August 28, 2010 of cancer. She was born in Lakewood , Ohio on August 21, 1916. She was one of 5 children. She married Jack Erwin Perisits in 1938, they where married nearly 65 years. She raised 5 children, Susan, Kathleen, Linda, Michael and James. After coming to California in 1947 she helped run the family business which was at the time a rabbit business and peach orchard which turned out to be a full scale chicken ranch that when closed down in 2001 Perisits Egg Ranch was raising over 900,000 birds and employed over 60 people. You would never find Mary in the house doing nothing, she was either cooking, baking or canning. You would never have a meal from a box. Everything was homemade and very yummy! A lot of the times Jack would have a 5 course meal for dinner. Everyone loved to go to Marys for all the goodies she would bake. At the holidays she would make apple strudel from hand. Pulling the dough to paper thin. She was always instilling the family heritage. If she wasn’t in the kitchen she was also working the family business. She also had a love of quilts. She began quilting at the age of 18 and is one of the founding members of Citrus Belt Quilters in Redlands. She also had a talent to paint and when she was unable to paint she loved to take pictures and collect art. Her favorite was to photograph sunsets. Jack and her also loved to travel. They would go yearly to Alaska, Canada, Colorado, the High Sierras, Death Valley and Mexico. Many of these places they would go fishing. Which was one of her favorite pastimes. For the last few years she would go fishing on her daughter Susan and son-in-law Garry Yacht and would always love the opportunity to whip out the photo album and boast she has the record on the boat for the largest Marlin (at age 88). She also loved to fish for wahoo, albacore, all the big stuff. She was devoted to the church. Member of Catholic daughters. Often going to church 3-4 times a week when she could. Never missing doing the stations of the cross when she had the opportunity. She was very proud to purchase the Blessed Mary for the new church. She loved for her yard to look good. Her roses where the best on the street and she would always have her daughter Linda change the flowers with the seasons. She loved color and it showed in her yard. It was easy to describe, just look for the house with the most flowers. She was always the life of the party and loved by everyone who knew her and will forever be in our hearts. She is survived by her children Susan Forney of Yucaipa, Kathleen Willhoft of Claremont, Linda Perisits of Oak Glen, Michael Perisits of Banning, and James Perisits of Yucaipa, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services where held on Thursday September 2, 2010 at St. Francis X Cabrini in Yucaipa. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to a charity of your choice.
