James "Jim" Warren McKee was born, Wednesday, May 1, 1929 in Seattle, Wa. and passed away, Thursday, March 26, 2009 at his home in Beaumont, CA, surrounded by his family. Jim was a 62 year member of the Society of the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. He directed several choruses including the Riverside Citrus Belters and Redlands Harmony Heritage. He was a musician and was best known as a Judge, Coach and Musical Arranger...he had a deep appreciation for gospel music. Jim was one of the original directors for Robert Schuler at the Crystal Cathedral and also served as President of Redlands Music Boosters; taking the Redlands High School Marching Band to Japan, under the direction of Patrick Winters. Also, Jim’s quartet performed in the Redlands High School and Redlands Bowl Production of Music Man. Jim resided, mostly, in the Inland Empire but moved to Oregon for 10 years. Upon his return to Southern California, he became a realtor and joined his son, Steve at Coldwell Banker-Armstrong Properties. Jim is survived by his wife, Ruth McKee and his 7 children; Steven, Sherryl, Bradley, Patty, Robin, Donna and Alex, along with 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life, "Afterglow" will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 , 1:00pm - 6:00pm at Solera by Del Webb Clubhouse, 1615 Fairway Drive, Beaumont, CA 92223.
