Donald Glen Blunk
November 8, 1941 - February 22, 2018
Donald G. Blunk passed away peacefully on February 22, 2018 in Banning, California due to complications from ulcerative colitis. He was 76 years old. Don was born November 8, 1941 in Inglewood, California to Ruby & Harold Blunk. He went from Boys Scouts to the United States Air Force (with a few years in between!) and was honorably discharged from the USAF in 1965. Married on the Queen Mary, he and Linda celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on February 4. Don loved taking road trips and especially enjoyed long distance train rides. He was passionate about supporting our military. He spearheaded the flag program in the Solera community and was president of the Veteran’s Club. He graduated from Bellflower High School in 1959 and was very involved with class reunions and keeping in contact with his classmates - and really just about everyone he ever met. All were friends to Don. He had a special tenderness for his dogs. Big opinions, big music (played nice and loud to share with his neighbors!) and a big heart – Don was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed. Don is survived by his wife Linda. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dave. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery. A private memorial service will be held in April. In lieu of flowers please donate to a favorite Veteran’s organization or Support The Troops in Solera.
